Dr. Wilks began his work in Audiology in 1972 at the Lexington School for the Deaf, located in Jackson Heights, New York. He provided pediatric evaluations and was involved in some of the earliest research into digital hearing aids.

In 1973, he joined the Mount Sinai Medical Center, in New York City, where he became Coordinator of Audiology Services. He served as supervisor of Audiologists and graduate level audiology students and as Lecturer to the Ear, Nose and Throat residency program.

In 1978, he left Mount Sinai to operate the Wilks Hearing Center, which was founded by his father, in 1952. Dr. Wilks received his Doctor of Audiology degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences.

In addition to direct patient care, Dr. Wilks serves as the Center's director.
